Galapagos - Santa Cruz, Ecuador

3 night accom. (non diver) (4 days / 3 nights. Incl. 0 dives)

Hanging out in Puerto Ayora
If you are accompanying a diver to Santa Cruz island, and is wondering if you will be bored while you are stuck, back on the island of Santa Cruz… Then the answer is NO. Not unless you find nature of extreme beauty, boring! From Santa Cruz, you can reach many incredible islands on day tours. But, if you are traveling to Galapagos in the high season, you might want to book your island tours in advance, since some of the more popular trips, does get booked out!

If you will be exploring the different islands on a cruise or a camping tour, there is plenty to do on Santa Cruz alone, for a couple of days! Go check out the highland on a trekking tour, jump in a kayak and explore the mangroves, check out the giant tortoises in the Charles Darwin research center, or spend a day hiking to the beautiful beach in Tortuga Bay. A little tip for you… At the end of Tortuga Bay, there is a little natural pool, where you can swim with the marine iguanas, and study the fish life up close. (You can get a mask and snorkel at the dive center).
Ask the dive center for when there is slack tide or low tide, since the pool gets a little cold when the tide comes in! (brrr!)
In general, just remember to ask the dive center. They have all the intel on where to go and what to do on the island! They can even help you book day tours.

Puerto Ayora is the main town on Santa Cruz island. And a cool little town it is! There are plenty of good local and international restaurants (and bars) to visit. And they get lively in the evening. It is not a big town, but it has SOUL!

If you feel like kicking back from the crowd, we recommend that you use your kitchen to cook fresh fish from the fishermen market, and highland vegetables from the local shops. It does not get more fresh than this!
